Procedures for the SSR Library Cafe

OVERVIEW & PURPOSE:

To use reading and coffee as an incentive for students to fully participate in our school reading initiative.
Picture

PROCEDURES:

1. 6th hour teachers choose one student per week to spend SSR time reading in the library where they can enjoy coffee, tea, or hot chocolate with their book. This is at the teacher’s discretion. You can draw names from a hat, use a checklist, etc. Here is a sample from Erin Walling. You will need to make a copy before editing.
                                                                     READ a LATTE Log

2. The library will be closed to all other services during SSR for these events. The timeframe is 1:28pm - 1:48pm.

3. Wednesday = Middle School, Thursday = High School

4. Teachers need to write a pass for the student to hand in to Ms. Trowbridge. After Read a Latte, Ms. Trowbridge (or teachers in library that day) will stamp the pass and send the students back to 6th hour when it is over.
